Winemaker's Notes:

The Freixenet family vineyard "La Freixenada" in Sant Quinti de Medlona has soils that are chalky and stratified, ideal for the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varietals. Freixenet produces only méthode champenoise sparkling wines. The wine goes through two fermentations with the second fermentation taking place in the bottle. Elyssia Gran Cuvée Brut is aged for up to fifteen months in a cave.

Elyssia Gran Cuvée Brut brings the idea of symmetry to life with combination of traditional Macabeo and Parellada Cava grapes blended with international favorites Chardonnay and Pinot Noir

Elyssia Gran Cuvée Brut offers sophisticated bouquet of roasted nuts, citrus fruit and honey with layers of complexity through the palate. Flavors of lemon and melon are followed by a spicy finish.

About Freixenet:

The Freixenet cava business started in 1914. Pere Ferrer Bosch was the son of "La Freixeneda", the family estate located in the Alt Penedès region since the XIIIth century. Right from the start they decided to produce only cava, a natural sparkling wine, following the method used in Champagne (France) for a couple of centuries. The cellars were set up in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia (Catalonia, Spain), a town situated in the heart of the Penedès region--already well-known from the era of the Roman Empire, for the quality of the wines produced there. In 1941, Freixenet launched what in time would become one of its leading products, the cava Carta Nevada and in 1974 the cava Cordon Negro.
