Wine Style Guide

Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Winemaker's Notes

A highly complex and ultra fresh and airy red pinot fruit nose trimmed in subtle oak is liberally laced with spice, earth and underbrush notes.

Critical Acclaim

"This is impressively refined with excellent breadth to the pure and elegant aromas that display a lovely range of spice elements along with a cool mélange of red and dark berry fruit and stone notes. The rich, supple and mouth coating big-bodied flavors possess very good phenolic maturity as the firm tannins are pushed to the background by the abundant dry extract, all wrapped in a highly complex, dusty and wonderfully long finish.
Range: 93-95"

"The 2010 Chambertin-Clos de Beze is a big wine bursting with dark blue and black fruit, violets, mint and licorice. The Beze fleshes out in all directions, showing remarkable depth and fullness through to a finish supported by firm yet polished tannins. This is another impressive showing. Anticipated maturity:2020-2030.
Range: 92-94+"
94 Points

"Good deep red. Great soil-driven nose offers black raspberry, dried flowers, musky roast coffee, beef stock, soy sauce and bone marrow. Sweet and round but taut and utterly vibrant, conveying an impression of solidity without weight. Utterly captivating today but has the intensity and verve for a slow and positive evolution in bottle. The impressively long finish features noble ripe tannins and lingering notes of raspberry and smoked meat. 93(+?) Points "
