winemaker's notes:
The goal when making Claret is not only to showcase Cabernet Sauvignon and its Bordeaux blending partners, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, but also to demonstrate the diversity of California's many distinguished growing regions. These areas provide the warm days, cool evenings, and well draining soils that contribute to the wide array of expressive aromas and flavors found in this wine. The 2002 Black Label Claret reveals a deep garnet color and enticing aromas of dark chocolate, anise, and sweet spices. Rich, lively flavors of succulent blackberry, currant, and wild strawberry are wrapped in soft, smooth tannins.

A Customer - Boston
We currently offer this vintage at Croma, a restaurant on Newbury Street in Boston. I have found this wine to be a fine selection, and without a doubt a memarable one. Flavors: Spice and Vanilla, with aromas of blackberry/raspberry.
A Customer - Chicago
This is what wine was meant to taste like - pure blackberry velvet with a vanilla yet dry finish.
A Customer - Michigan by way of California
We were in the Gaslamp area of San Diego on a family reunion get-away, sans kids. Nick the wine steward asked us what we liked and we started talking about red blends and meritages. He pulled this out immediately and it stuck. A dry wine with the sweetness of blackberries and currant. Swim in a glass (or two) and think cool fall days with a campfire, some roasted lamb, and smores for dessert.
