Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine has a youthful body, fresh red berry flavors, vibrantly bright taste.

Pair with fresh cold cuts, tomato-based pastas, pizza, oven roasted fish, sashimi and tempuras.

Critical Acclaim

"This well-priced blend of Sangiovese (70%) and Merlot offers friendly and approachable aromas of ripe berry fruit, blackberry jam, spice and light touches of leather and tobacco. The fresh finish makes it a perfect Tuscan red to pair with ravioli stuffed with minced meat or cheese.
Editors' Choice"
88 Points

"The 2009 Poggio alla Badiola is an attractive, juicy red well suited to informal drinking. Black cherries and crushed flowers linger on the finish."
