    Somm Note

    Winemaker Notes

Aromas of dark chocolate, currant and black tea are followed by expressions of black cherry and ripe blackberry. On the palate, the ultra dark fruit notes are met with flavors expressive of the hillsides where it grows - lavendar, sage, forrest floor and crushed rock minerality. The textire also speaks of mountain fruit boasting dense structure and rich tannins.

    Fisher Vineyards Winery Image
Founded in 1973 by Fred and Juelle Fisher, the winery is nestled at the 1500-foot elevation on the western face of the Mayacamas Mountains between the Napa and Sonoma Valleys and home to their Wedding Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and Whitney's Vineyard Chardonnay. Their Coach Insignia Cabernet, Lamb Vineyard Cabernet and RCF Vineyard Merlot come from their estate on the Silverado Trail in the Napa Valley. It is from these two sites that the winery strives to fulfill their mission of producing world class Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Image for Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon content section

While Sonoma County is acclaimed—and rightfully so—for its Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, and Zinfandels, it also produces exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. Of the region’s 18 American Viticultural Areas, only a handful produce top-notch Cabernet Sauvignon. These appellations include Alexander Valley, Knights Valley, Sonoma Valley and Dry Creek Valley. Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignons made in these appellations can offer a complex array of aromas and flavors. Fruit notes such as blackberry, blackcurrant, cassis, black cherry and raspberry often are accompanied by hints of graphite, dusty earth, cigar box, toast and vanilla. The varietal has a rich history in Sonoma, and some of these Cabernet Sauvignons and Cabernet-based blends rival the best from Napa Valley.
