Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Intense straw yellow color with a golden shimmer. Delicate scents of ripe pears, apricots, apples, fern and mint. Harmonious, with a lively acidity and mineral structure typical of the Greco grape.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2009 Greco di Tufo is laced with mineral-infused white fruits, wet stones and smoke. Fruit, acidity and structure are all beautifully balanced in this long, delineated entry-level Greco. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2012. "
89 Points

"This is a really fantastic white wine from southern Italy that expresses much of the complexity and beauty of the land that shaped it. It also promises a perfect pairing match to any Mediterranean fish dish—from mussels with coarse black pepper or steamed calamari in lemon juice and olive oil."
