Pale gold with green nuances. Elegant aromas of apple, banana and pineapple. Medium-bodied, with a lingering aftertaste of citrus and minerals.
Delicious with seafood, pasta, risotto, sushi and sashimi.
"This fresh, vibrant white shows melon, lemon and grapefruit character, with a hint of blanched almond. Medium-bodied, tight and focused, with good acidity. Leaves a salty mineral aftertaste. Drink now. 83,500 cases made."
"The 2008 Falanghina di Sannio is a very pretty, refined white. Layers of intensely perfumed fruit emerge from the glass as this stylish Falanghina struts its stuff. The wine offers excellent balance, and a long, harmonious close. This would make a great summer or aperitif wine. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011."
The Wine Advocate
My wife and I just returned from southern Italy ,where we toured the modern winery of Feudi di San Gregorio. The Falanghina is a great everyday white wine. For special occasions we drink their Greco di Tufo. Both wines will go great with today's Thanksgiving turkey. Their website is www.feudi.it
Consistently good throughout the vintages I've tasted, this falanghina is a prime example of 'other whites' from Italy--especially Southern Italy which tends to not get the attention it deserves for good, low-cost wines.
