Alcohol By Volume: 13.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2009 Rutini Malbec has a concentrated nose with elements of wild berries, tobacco and vanilla. The palate is full, with rich black fruit flavors and a long, lingering finish with a touch of black pepper spice.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2009 Malbec displays a brooding bouquet surrendering notes of brier, spice box, floral aromas, and black cherry. Smooth, succulent, and friendly, this tasty effort finishes with no hard edges. It is meant for drinking over the next 4-5 years."

This is a great wine for the value. Itis smooth and also has a bit of a spice at the finish. I would certainly share this one with a friend. Better after opening for a bit.

Tight out of the bottle. Aeration will smooth the tannins. Nose is better with aeration. I would give it air for an hour. Peppery on second pour without aeration.Much more enjoyable on second pour. Give it some time and it won't disappoint. I wouldn't say it is bold.

Yet it's hard not to get caught up in the wine market of the world and some...
