Winemaker's Notes

Deep ruby in color, the 2010 Carneros Pinot Noir is driven by inviting aromas of ripe cherry and red berries, and accented with notes of forest floor and Asian spice. The classically structured palate showcases a seamless blend of lush, dark fruit and oak, which is enhanced by refined tannins. Due to the low yield of this vintage, this defined Pinot Noir has an intensely concentrated fruit core that is balanced with a bright, lasting acidity.

Critical Acclaim

"Bright medium cherry-red. Aromas of raspberry, cola and licorice, plus a whiff of stewed fruits and earth. Broad, fat and sweet on the palate, showing some superripeness but also good freshness to the flavors of raspberry, sassafras and earth. Nicely silky and welcoming but I'd like to have seen a bit more verve from this perennial restaurant-list favorite."

Learn About Etude Map ItMap It

The underlying philosophy at Etude Wines is that winemaking begins in the vineyard, long before the grapes are harvested. Winemaker, Jon Priest, believes that superior grape growing diminishes the need for intervention by the winemaker and results in a wine that is grown, not made. Etude specializes in two classic red varieties: Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Though modeled on the best from Burgundy to Bordeaux, these wines speak clearly of their contemporary California origins, combining rich, ripe fruit with an elegant and opulent mouth feel.
