Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Winemaker's Notes

In 1999, Estancia planted nearly 700 acres along the Estrella River benchland in Paso Robles, nearly 400 acres of which is Cabernet Sauvignon. This emerging region is ideal for producing grapes that result in complex and delicious Cabernet Sauvignon displaying intense black currant and dark cherry fruit flavors followed by a long, rich finish.

Appearance: Deep garnet with crimson hues

Aroma: Ripe, dark black cherry, chocolate and currant complement the spicy, peppery notes and hints of toasted sweet oak

Flavor: Jammy dark fruit accompanied by soft velvety tannins, followed with a long, rich finish

I think this wine tastes like a more expensive wine than it is. I was surprised when I went to restock it was under $15. I could not remember what I had paid for it and thought it would be more than $30 a bottle.

Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
