Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

A pale yellow color with greenish tints, this wine offers elegant fresh tropical fruit notes with touches of quince and honey that evolve into white floral notes accompanied by a hint of truffle. The fruit reemerges on the palate, accompanied by a subtle minerality that adds complexity, elegance, and a lively acidity that adds a refreshing and juicy mouthfeel. Moderate in volume and body, this wine offers great elegance. Its intense fruit and acidity ensure its great cellaring potential.

Critical Acclaim

"Light yellow-gold. Ripe pear, nectarine and orange on the fragrant spice- and smoke-accented nose. Picks up an exotic iodine quality and a sneaky licorice nuance with air to go with its potent orchard and citrus fruit flavors. Finishes sappy and very long, with firm grip and lingering smokiness. One-third of this wine went through malo and 10% of the barrels were new."

Another great chard from Chile ! I became a fan after trying Montes Alpha & this Chard did not dissapoint. I choose rich and creamhy for the style - however it is a little crisper than the normal oakey chard. A steal at the price!

love love love this wine... excellent Chardonnay with that perfect balance between rich/creamy & fresh/bright. Fruit shines through, backed by gentle oak and a creamy texture. So delicious. Reminds me why I love a good Chardonnay at a great price.

Wonderful - if it only had a cork... Not a fan of the screw top (ever) need a new designation for wines on this site: No Cork - Screw Top - your ceremonial cork screw will languish away in the drawer...

This valley has cool, rainy winters, hot, dry summers and moist Pacific Ocean breezes--ideal for growing grapes. Don Maximiano sent for the finest clones from France and with tenacity and perseverance transformed this barren land into a world-class vineyard. Today, the tradition of...

Learn About Chile

(CHEE-lay) Long and thin, Chile has a lot of land north to south. The wine region here is a series of districts based near Santiago. The vineyards are protected by the Pacific on the west and the Andes mountains on the east. This could help explain why the climate changes more from east to west than north to south - also why the country has remained phylloxera free....
