Alcohol By Volume: 10.0%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Gold Medal Winner: 2014 Los Angeles International Wine Competition

This new Eroica Gold Riesling offers the best of both worlds, the bright natural acidity of our original Eroica with concentrated, ripe fruit flavors and a touch of sweetness. German winemakers have been making Riesling with Botrytis influence for generations. Eroica Gold combines the trademark Washington acidity with German botrytis influence. The wine offers lush orange marmalade flavors with a crisp finish.

Critical Acclaim

"This is the first release of Gold Riesling from the Ste. Michelle-Loosen partnership; it's a full wine with an element of botrytis, which the regular Eroica bottling rarely possesses. Full of ripe tropical flaovr, this leads with scents of ripe peach and mango, adorned by saffron and smoke. It has the amplitude, the concentration and weight to ensure a long life, or to pair with sauerbraten."

Often assumed to be the producer of only sweet wines, Riesling is a fascinating grape of many faces. From bone dry to lusciously sweet, this variety is delicious at any sugar level with its intense aromas and steely acidity. Most popular in...
