Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Critical Acclaim

"Bright ruby. Fresh, mineral-accented red berry and floral aromas are complemented by notes of spicecake and licorice. Juicy and precise, with a seamless texture to its zesty raspberry and bitter cherry flavors. Closes with impressive energy and cut, leaving pepper and candied rose notes behind. This 100%-grenache wine is made from a schist- and granite-based vineyard just south of Cornas. Texier believes that this is the most northern planting of grenache in the Rhone Valley."

Delivers way above it's price point. It drinks like a $45-60 CdP. Great QPR. A bit more new world in style, but just enough traditional CdR characteristics to stay true to the classification. Grenache gives this more of a juicy component, garrigue and earth notes keep it grounded, and enough acidity and tannin to keep it from being a fruit-bomb. Simple and easy to drink. Not overly complex, but very nice. Something to drink every day. Buy a case.

Learn About Rhone Red Blends

The Rhone region of France has a delightful selection of red varieties. There are 22 grapes allowed in the Rhone AOC, about half of them red. Most of these varieties are used as secondary blending partners, often comprising less than 10% of the blend. The primary red players of Rhone blends are Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. Most wines from the Southern Rhone use Grenache as their...
