Winemaker's Notes

Very intense ruby red with garnet reflections. Warm and elegant, with mint and spicy notes. Fresh to the nose with mature fruits; prunes and blueberries, licorice and notes of aromatic herbs like eucalyptus.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2007 Barolo Arborina is another stunner. The intense aromatics are a dead give-way for what is to follow, which is to say a virtual explosion of flavors. The Arborina boasts fabulous balance, intensity and raciness in a style that brings to mind the wines of Henri Jayer. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2032."
96 Points

"Dark red. Deeper aromas of plum, mocha and brown spices complicated by coffee and menthol nuances. Wonderfully sweet and lush in the mouth, but given shape and balance by graphite and spice notes and a firm tannic spine. This superb Barolo offers an outstanding combination of sweetness and energy.
Rating: 93(+?)"

"Lots of blackberry and cherry character with hints of chocolate. Full and chewy, with lovely silky tannins and a fruity finish. Firm, and juicy."

Those were not...

It is not the most planted variety, but it does make the most distinctive and age-worthy wines. Native to Piedmont, Nebbiolo is a bit of a soil snob - it's finicky about where it grows and has long been the honored red grape of Northern Italy...
