The 1999 growing season was particularly well-suited for this varietal, resulting in a wine with intense flavor, color and body. Deep, rich aromas of blackberry and current are followed by extreme pepper and anise spiciness. A full spectrum of fruit, toast and chocolate flavors lead to a lasting mouthfeel of silky tannin and
a nutty aftertaste. Serve with barbecued red meats
and spicy Thai or Tex-Mex cuisine.
