Winemaker's Notes:

Established in 1999, DOMINI represents a joint venture between Domingos Soares Franco of Jose Maria da Fonseca and Cristiano van Zeller, one of Portugal's famed "Douro Boys" (a small group of the Douro's top port and table wine producers). Together, these partners have set out on a mission to showcase the full potential of the Douro's grapes, and the excellence this region's dry red table wines are capable of attaining.

Grapes are grown on a 28-acre vineyard in the Douro Superior region of northern Portugal. The well-drained soil is composed chiefly of schist, and vines average 20 years in age

Grape Varieties: Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz

Full-bodied and elegant, with flavors of blackberry, plum and vanilla set against a backdrop of soft tannins

"This joint venture between the inspired winemaker Domingos Soares Franco and Cristiano van Zeller produces fascinatingly idiosyncratic wines. Big and bold, but then lean and tannic, with sunshine-filled fruit over dark tannins. Consumers wanting an action-packed wine, needing time to come together (when it will be superb), should go for this."
