Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The Pinot Gris color is a golden yellow with light reflections of a great intensity. The disk is bright, limpid and transparent. The wine shows youth and concentration. The nose is marked, pleasant, distinguished and gives out a dominant of earthly scents. A hint of fruitiness is also detected, with flavors of quince, white flesh fruits, apple and a hint of lemon. The onset in the mouth is moderately ample, tender, and a little richness can be perceived. The alcoholic base is well balanced. One evolves on a full-bodied medium with a sharp vivacity. The candied range of flavors revolves around fruits, quince, oven-baked apple, as well as a smoky character. A slight bitterness can be detected. The finish offers a moderate length and a marked vivacity.

Critical Acclaim

"This thrives on balance and freshness, its clean, primary flavors of pear, kiwi and citrus feeling silky and clear. It's accented by a stony complexity that buttresses the fruit flavors, adding to the wine's energy and finesse."
92 Points

"Delicate flavors of white peach, clementine and spice are shy today, but they sit on a solid framework of nervy acidity. A pleasant fleur de sel note runs through the wine, leading to the mouthwatering finish. Drink now through 2017. 1,200 cases imported. "

Learn About Domaines Schlumberger Map ItMap It

Domaines Schlumberger only harvests grapes from their own vineyards and are entirely dedicated to quality, which is achieved through deliberately producing very restricted yields per hectare.

The planting and judicious choice of grape varieties, pruning the vines, constantly surveying the grapes as they ripen, and the precious care that they are given enable a strict selection to be made during harvesting. Each plot, or even each bunch of grapes, will only be picked if it is completely ripe.
