Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Les Domaniers Cotes de Provence Rose 2010 is a fresh and balanced rosé that captures the spirit of the Cote d'Azur with it exotic fruit and white peach flavors. Built upon Domaines Ott's winemaking expertise, this wine is to be paired with Provencal cuisine such as salad nicoise, grilled lamb, sea bass and seasonal vegetables.

60% Grenache, 35% Cinsault, 5% Syrah

Critical Acclaim

"Pale orange. Bright, mineral-accented aromas of strawberry and orange zest, with a hint of white flowers. Dry and precise, showing very good clarity to its tangy red fruit and bitter citrus flavors. Shows good bite on the energetic finish, leaving behind a cherry note."
89 Points

"A rich, juicy style, offering generously spiced flavors of melon, apricot and wild plum. Fresh and minerally on the finish. Drink now."

Domaines D'Ott is one of my favorite wines from Provence and the rose is superb. This, however, was a Selection and I found it disappointing vs. my expectations. That being said, it's crisp, light with wonderful flavors and can be paired with many summer dishes or enjoyed on its own. Worth trying.

Learn About Domaines Ott Map ItMap It

Domaines Ott was founded in 1912 by Alsatian engineer Marcel Ott. Today, the wineries are owned and managed by Champagne Louis Roederer, producing some of the world’s most prestigious wines. These wines are made at three distinctively different estates: Château Romassan (Bandol), Clos Mireille and Château de Selle (both Côtes de Provence).

Learn About Provence

Not just a destination for tourists and movie stars, Provence makes some delicious and easy-drinking wines. Most of these wines are rose - a dry, pale, pink style rose. The climate here is Mediterranean, with most of the vines planted on southern facing slopes to avoid the fierce Mistral winds. Thirteen varieties are permitted in the region, the most important for rose being...

Learn About Rose

Rose(roe-ZAY) A Rose by Any Other Name Technically, a rose is an unfinished red wine, but the term seems so- secondary. Rose is a different sort of wine, with all the refreshing qualities of a white wine mixed with some characteristics of a red. It can be made from many different grape varietals and in many different regions, the most popular and successful being Southern France,...
