Critical Acclaim

"Lilting, perfumy style, with alluring violet, raspberry, black cherry and plum notes that glide across the palate. This gains intensity through the finish, picking up the vintage's tarry aspect, yet stays remarkably fresh and Burgundian in style."
94 Points

"The 2003 Cuvee Chaupin is a blend of 100% Grenache that comes from the Chaupin lieu-dit that’s located in the northeastern part of the appellation. Pure Grenache in character, with kirsch and blackberry-styled fruit, licorice, Provencal herbs, spice-box and flowers, it has full-bodied richness that’s paired with an overall elegant, fresh texture and thrilling length on the finish. Lighter in weight and texture compared to the Vieilles Vignes, yet also more classic in its aromas and flavors, it is a knockout Grenache that will continue to drink well through 2020."
94 Points

"Ruby-red. Powerfully scented nose offers ripe red and dark berry aromas along with dried flowers and smoky minerals. Weighty cherry and red berry flavors show very good concentration and completely coat the palate. A hint of warmth arrives on the finish, which is strikingly sweet and long. This wine appears to be evolving quickly and is drinking well right now. I scored it 93 points on release."

Learn About Rhone Red Blends

The Rhone region of France has a delightful selection of red varieties. There are 22 grapes allowed in the Rhone AOC, about half of them red. Most of these varieties are used as secondary blending partners, often comprising less than 10% of the blend. The primary red players of Rhone blends are Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. Most wines from the Southern Rhone use Grenache as their...
