Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

A very ripe nose full of mineral and forest aromas. It has power, and minerality and the acidity on the finish hints at being a bit refreshing.

Critical Acclaim

"An intensely floral nose also displays notes of lemon zest, lime, wet stone and again subtle spice hints. The highly energetic middle weight flavors are beautifully delineated with stunning intensity on the superbly pure, bone dry and gorgeously long finish. This is both stylish and very classy and overall, this is textbook Folatières at its very best. 92-95"
95 Points

"Perfumed, floral and ageworthy, this combines a taut texture with a toast note, showing great depth of flavor. The line of pure green and white fruit is very apparent. On the finish, bright acidity matches the great fruitiness. "
94 Points

"Pale-medium yellow. Reticent but pure aromas of peach, spices and minerals. Brisk and intense, with terrific clarity and punch to the flavors of citrus peel, salty minerals and flowers. A noble expression of terroir, finishing tactile, saline, dry and very long, with terrific floral lift and grip. This needs time in bottle to expand. Yet another outstanding Folatieres bottling in vintage 2010. 94(+?) points "
