Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Critical Acclaim

"The nose is all but inexpressive and only aggressive swirling liberates the reluctant red berry fruit and earth suffused aromas. There is a gorgeously silky mouth feel to the suave and opulent medium-bodied flavors that also brim with an abundance of dry extract before concluding in an intensely earthy finish. This is very, very tight today but the noteworthy upside development potential is more than evident. Strongly worth considering."
93 Points

"Good full red. Complex, inviting aromas of red cherry, flowers, spices and pungent minerals. Rich, bright and dry; more mouthfilling than the Clos-Vougeot but still youthfully folded in on itself. Lovely density and purity of spicy fruit here, with the energy and spine to age. I'd give this six or seven years in the cellar. Terrific potential. 92(+?) points"
