Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The Domaine Tempier Bandol Rose is an icon widely considered one of the best roses in the world. The wine intertwines fruit, floral, citrus and mineral aromas with well-rounded and balanced silky flavors of red berries, peach and pomegranate and delicate hints of spice and herbs. The beautifully balanced finish is one of acidic balance giving beautiful, silky texture and the pleasant freshness of known of this classic and elegant rose.

Blend: 50% Mourvedre, 28% Grenache, 20% Cinsault, 2% Carignan

Critical Acclaim

"Light, bright orange-pink. Complex scents of fresh red berries, nectarine and orange zest, with a sexy floral overtone. Silky and expansive on the palate, offering juicy cherry and pit fruit flavors and an exotic touch of honey. A dusty mineral quality adds bite and lift to the strikingly long, chewy, floral back end."
93 Points

"Always one of the top 2-3 roses produced (from anywhere – and it’s priced as such), the 2012 Bandol Rose (50% Mourvedre, 28% Grenache, 20% Cinsault and the balance Carignan) has fantastic notes of rose petal, orange rind, citrus blossom and distinct minerality on the nose. Classy, elegant and yet beautifully textured and long, even showing some structure, it’s a knockout rose to drink with food over the coming 2-4 years."
