Picked on a limestone, south-west-facing hillside, this racy vintage is the most typical of the range.
The "Cris" is the local term to describe "pebbly limestone sown with vines".
The aromatic range, full of elegance, first releases some fruity (pineapple, citrus, peach) then mineral tones. After 1 or 2 years, these tastes become more refined, taking on more and more the imprint of the local earth.
The impression in the mouth is powerful, woody, and outstandingly mellow. There is excellent balance, thanks to a perfect maturity of the grapes.
This estate consists of 11 hectares at the northern edge of the Pouilly Fume appellation opposite Sancerre. A high proportion of old vines, between 25 and 50 years old, as well as a variety of soil types (chalk, clay and sandy alluvion) combine to produce exceptional wines… among the most exciting in the appellation. Low yields and optimum maturity of the grapes is part of the secret.
