One of Marlborough's finest Pinots, the Dog Point Pinot Noir is crushed and fermented in stainless steel before being racked to French oak barrels, 50% new, for 18 months aging on lees. The wine is mouth-filling and elegant, with aromas of bright red fruits complemented by floral notes and a subtle, underlying varietal earthy character. Lifted rich fruit and well integrated spicy oak flavors show excellent balance with sweet tannins and a lingering soft finish.
"Medium ruby-purple-colored, the 2011 Pinot Noir presents a nose of black cherry compote, black raspberries and wild blueberries with hints of menthol and cinnamon. Medium to full-bodied with a good amount of fruit supported by a low to medium level of grainy tannins and lively acid, it finishes long with some earthiness coming through."
The Wine Advocate
"Good medium red. Sweet cherry aroma lifted by a floral note. Sweet and pliant in the mouth, with generous flavors of ripe red and darker berries and spices. Nicely shapely, suave pinot with fine-grained tannins and very good length. Delicious right now."
