Winemaker's Notes

This Sangiovese exhibits a fresh bouquet of violets, woodland berries, spices and leather. Deliciously smooth, plush and juicy on the palate with loads of ripe fruit, Di Majo Sangiovese is recommended with pasta, pizza, sausages, parmigiana and grilled meats. A tremendous value!

Critical Acclaim

"The 2008 Sangiovese Terre degli Osci is an incredibly delicious, full-bodied wine with gorgeous clarity and definition. Made in a bold, fruit-driven style, the wine offers terrific depth and a long, polished finish. This harmonious red is a knockout!"

Di Majo Norante Sangiovese is an old favorite of mine, it goes well with pastas, beef, and other similar meals, and is great as an additive in tomato sauce, yet it does not dominate the meal.

This is a deliciously smooth Sangiovese. I had it with some chicken parm and baked zita. It would make a great full bodied, but friendly, wine for a party with multiple palettes. It has just enough bite to keep it from being a cloyingly vanilla exercise.

This was disappointing. It simply was too one dimensional and light.

Cannot understand what Fran B was drinking. Either the wines were damaged during shipment or she just got 2 bad bottles, but this wine is - year in and year out - fantastic.

A great wine. Moderate tannins, and an earthy taste, not too sweet either.

This was a very light cab that was very easy on the palate. Yet, the taste was great. I would purchase again.

The flavor was great. It goes well with pasta. I finished off nearly half the bottle in one sitting.

I love dry wine , but this was quite tart. If this was the only red wine on the planet , I'd deal with it. There's so many other wines to try, this would not get a second chance.

I tried two bottles and it was like "bad and worse". Among the worst wine I have opened in years. One was totally undrinkable and poured down the drain. The second was little better. So much for gradings and remarks.

Abruzzi, Puglia, & Campania Abruzzi Kind of central, kind of southern, this region is best known for it's wine, Montapulciano d'Abruzzi - this wine is made from the Montelpulciano grape, unlike Vino Nobile di Montelpulciano, made with a Sangiovese clone in the region of Montelpuliciano. For a stint in the 70s and 80s, wines labeled Chianti contained cheap red wine packaged in a straw casked bottle, most popular for the candle holder it would become. But no more. Sangiovese re...
