Alcohol By Volume: 13.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Enticing aromas that are strikingly similar to Viognier, with hints of peach pit, white pear, flowers, and orange citrus fruit. On the palate, it has beautiful structure and acidity similar to Sauvignon Blanc along with enticing fruit flavors that keep you coming back for another sip and plenty of body for a wine that shows such delicate aromas and flavors. Fruity, floral and yet still quite dry, this wine has to be tasted to be believed.

Best enjoyed in its youth either by itself, or as a wonderful partner with smoked meats, mild to medium-strong cheeses, and seafood (especially crab!).

Critical Acclaim

"The 2009 Torrontes remains one of Argentina’s benchmarks for this variety. Sourced from 31-year-old vines in Cafayate (where the finest Torrontes grows), it displays a fragrant bouquet of spring flowers, honey, and tropical aromas. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate, it has ample fruit backed by vibrant acidity leading to a lengthy finish. Drink it over the next 2 years. "
90 Points

"Pale, bright straw-yellow. Pure, floral aromas of citrus blossom, licorice and mint. Juicy, intensely flavored and fresh, with flavors similar to the aromas. Offers unusual intensity for torrontes, with harmonious acidity giving it a firm shape. Finishes with very good length and verve. Always an excellent torrontes."

I'm not a fan of whites, except for Reislings. This wine reminds me of a Riesling. Light easy to drink. This is great year round, but would be a perfect summer wine. I found a new favorite. I'm going to purchase more soon.

I loved this wine. I wasn't that wild about the 2007 but this is a knockout. Aromatic, fresh and vibrant, mouthwatering finish. You can't beat it. Check my review at: www.ramblingcork.com

I love this wine - it is so surprising! The incredible aroma of flowers, reminiscent of the best grappa, makes it one white worthy of cork-sniffing (or, due to a recent change, screw-top sniffing.) Then comes the surprise - in contrast to the aroma, it is crisp, not sweet. It is a great wine to serve to "wine snobs" who think they have tasted everything. It invariably elicits a "Wow! What IS this?" I loved the 2005, but the 2009 is even better.

This wine tasted like a floral perfumed bottle of alcohol. It was awful. Any wine I don't like will end up as cooking wine. This bottle didn't make it that far. The worst part, since the reviews were good, I purchased two bottles!!!

Learn About Argentina

(ahr-jen-TEE-nah) Now fifth in the world for wine production, Argentina is catching up in the quality wine sector. A long time wine producer, Argentina used to make wine in order to drink it, not export it. And so the wines produced were quaffable and rustic and made for the local's everyday dinner. Yet it's hard not to get caught up in the wine market of the world and some...
