Alcohol By Volume: 13.8%
Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
A medium ruby color. Bright aromas of cherry,
raspberry, dried sage and a hint of smoke make for an enticing nose. On the palate the taut, focussed fruit tannin sits seamlessly in this medium weight wine with a silky savory finish.
"Elegant and highly detailed, with plush, ripe red raspberry and cherry flavors that are fresh and juicy, joined by black tea, clove, sassafras and sage notes. Smooth and tasty, gaining momentum on the finish."
"Craggy's Pinot style has been trending away from overt fruitiness and toward this sort of complex umamifest of meat, parsnip and mushroom, with just enough black cherry fruit to support all of these components. This 2010 has a firmly structured core surrounded by plush tannins and ample length on the finish. Drink now–2023."
"Good full, bright red. Smoky, slightly reduced aromas of red cherry, strawberry, raspberry and underbrush. Rich, pliant and broad but with good energy to the soil-driven flavors of sweet red fruits, rose petal and smoky underbrush. Finishes tactile, saline and long, with smooth tannins and subtle floral lift."
International Wine Cellar
"The rich cherry intensity of this wine carries spice along in its wake, bringing cedar and ancho-chile scents through its chocolate layers of tannins. It's tightly built, the flavors lasting on fruit, suited to several years of bottle age."

Learn About Craggy Range Winery Map It
From the beginning, Craggy Range Winery has some great land and vineyards and a wonderful home in which to weave the strands together. The first wines made in the 1999 vintage are from small parcels of mature vineyards in Marlborough and Hawkes Bay. The wines show the character of the vineyards and the Craggy Range philosophy of wine both inside and outside the bottle. In time, as the vines mature on their own estates, the wines of Craggy Range Winery will without doubt express their origin and the commitment and skill of their people.
