Ratings Pedigree:

Winemaker's Notes

Shows lemon zest, almond, and mineral aromas and flavors, with a coastal acidity and freshness. This medium-weight, textured wine has a remarkable length of flavor.

A delicious companion to a variety of shellfish dishes.

Critical Acclaim

"This has the weight of a Premier Cru Chablis with dried apples, cream and a hint of lemons. Full body, with a dense compacted palate and a creamy, crunchy acidity. Makes you want to drink it. Aged about six to eight months in oak barrels."

For those who enjoy the crisp, mineral side of Chardonnay, but also want a slightly creamy texture, this is a wine for you. Lovely and balanced, this wine has stone fruits and mineral notes, with a vibrant but creamy texture. So refreshing and at an awesome price point! Makes you want to keep drinking it...

Delicious wine with fresh acidity. My go-to seafood wine.

Overall disappointing, compared to other, similarly priced New Zealand Chardonnays. Somewhat bland, the fruit doesn't stand out and there isn't much of a flavor or aroma.

Learn About Craggy Range Winery Map ItMap It

From the beginning, Craggy Range Winery has some great land and vineyards and a wonderful home in which to weave the strands together. The first wines made in the 1999 vintage are from small parcels of mature vineyards in Marlborough and Hawkes Bay. The wines show the character of the vineyards and the Craggy Range philosophy of wine both inside and outside the bottle. In time, as the vines mature on their own estates, the wines of Craggy Range Winery will without doubt express their origin and the commitment and skill of their people.

Learn About Hawkes Bay

Hawkes Bay is the second largest wine region, following Marlborough. The area is known for its shmorgasborg of different microclimates and soils. Gimblett Gravels, while sounding like a character out of Lord of the Rings, is a soil and a district in the area. Gimblett Gravels are a gravelly mix that absorb and retain heat, much like the soils of Graves in Bordeaux or Chateauneuf du...
