Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Pale straw in color streaked with youthful green hues. Lemon zest, toasted almond, flint and chalk dust aromas meld for an enticing bouquet. The palate displays the winemakers craft - that is the tension and balance between the juicy, zesty core and the coastal infused acidity and freshness.
Food Match: Aperitif or subtle fish dishes
Cellaring: Up to 7 years from vintage

Critical Acclaim

"Crisp with lively acidity, fresh citrus fruit and soft minerals; no oak - just bright, racy fruit and a long, clean finish."

Learn About Craggy Range Winery Map ItMap It

From the beginning, Craggy Range Winery has some great land and vineyards and a wonderful home in which to weave the strands together. The first wines made in the 1999 vintage are from small parcels of mature vineyards in Marlborough and Hawkes Bay. The wines show the character of the vineyards and the Craggy Range philosophy of wine both inside and outside the bottle. In time, as the vines mature on their own estates, the wines of Craggy Range Winery will without doubt express their origin and the commitment and skill of their people.

Gimblett Gravels are a gravelly mix that absorb and retain heat, much like the soils of Graves in Bordeaux or Chateauneuf du...
