Alcohol By Volume: 14.0%
Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
Complex layers of dark fruit, oak, spice, and a hint of leather. Full-bodied and velvety. Supple and round.
"Ripe black cherry, raspberry and plum aromas and flavors highlight this fruity red. The tannins are dense and enmeshed in the rich texture, giving this a lush, but not soft, feel. Long, fruit-filled finish. Best from 2014 through 2032."
"The 2007 Barolo Mosconi offers up layers of dark fruit, espresso, licorice, new leather and French oak in an explosive style typical of this south-facing site. Here, too, the integration of the oak is superb. The Mosconi shows plenty of freshness and should drink well for at least another decade. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2027. "
The Wine Advocate
"Bright, deep ruby-red. Musky, reticent nose offers dark chocolate, truffle and violet. Fat and sweet but not yet complex. In an elegant style, and showing more cut than the Vigna del Gris, but today this rather backward wine is dominated by its building tannins. Much less approachable than the Vigna del Gris.
