Winemaker's Notes:

The 1999 growing season was warm, with delayed ripening, late harvest and low crop levels. Grapes were allowed to hang on the vines longer for increased maturity, resulting in intense, ripe fruit character. Sourced from mature Napa Valley vineyards with low crop levels, sparse clusters and small individual berries producing intense, concentrated flavors and aromas. Collins vineyard, Conn Creek's original vineyard, provided the backbone of the 1999 bottling.

Intense aromas of black cherry, cassis and plum are tinged with vanilla, anise and pepper. This is a luscious, full-bodied, wellbalanced wine packed with flavors of ripe plum, blackberry, oak and mocha with a lingering, velvety finish. This is a classic Napa Valley Cabernet.

My Notes:

About Conn Creek Winery:

Conn Creek was founded in 1973 and immediately established itself as one of Napa Valley's premier Cabernet houses with the release of its 1974 Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery name comes from its location, next to Conn Creek near the Rutherford Crossroad that connects the Silverado Trail with Highway 29. Conn Creek specializes in limited production Bordeaux varietal wines exclusively from Napa Valley’s best vineyards. Present production remains at fewer than 6500 case per year.
