Wine Style Guide

Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Smooth & Supple

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 13.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Intense Tempranillo character is apparent in an elegant and pure wine only lightly influenced by the oak. Intensively fruity on the palate with a lingering, slightly dusty finish that promises excellent development in the bottle. Aged 15 months in primarily American oak.

Critical Acclaim

"Youthful purple. Primary, pungent aromas of black and blue fruits, vanilla, fresh flowers and licorice, with slow-mounting spiciness. Broad, palate-coating cassis and boysenberry flavors are framed and lifted by tangy acidity. Showing very well right now but has the depth to age."

A definite winner! Great nose, spicy, dark fruit. Smooth mid-palate with structure. Long finish. You want more.

De-lish. Goes great with a hearty meal or sharp cheese and crackers

Nice structure with dark berries, cherries, mango, leather and citrus. As of March 2013, the tannins are a bit sharp and need more time to soften. Shows good potential with interesting layered flavors and a very nice finish but not ready to serve at a party.
