Light & Fruity

Red wines that are more fruit-forward and lighter in tannin and body.

Medium bodied reds that go down easy, with smooth tannins and supple fruit.

Earthy & Spicy

Wines where earthy and/or spicy dominate the flavors – typically medium to full body.

Big & Bold

Full bodied wines that have concentrated fruit and are higher in alcohol and/or tannins. Some need age.

Alcohol By Volume: 14.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The wine has a dark ruby red color. The bouquet has luscious aromas of cherry and blackberries intertwine with cedar and smoke. On the palate the wine has concentrated flavors with firm tannins and a soft, silky texture and a lingering finish.

Critical Acclaim

"A real beauty with graphite, minerality and rich, clean, exciting berry fruit and controlled oak aromas. Very pure and stylish Cabernet Sauvignon with fat but balanced cassis and sweet berry flavors. Big tannins lend structure and framework..."
91 Points

"Pure, ripe and berry-scented, this has none of the menthol aromas usually associated with cabernet from Puente Alto. Instead, it’s big and sweet, soft and creamy, with a black pepper kick to the tannins."
91 Points

"A light eucalyptus note leads to a jammy palate of kirsch, cassis and blackberry liqueur flavors, which cruise through the long finish of mesquite, licorice and dark spice hints."
90 Points

"Saturated ruby. Red- and blackcurrant and floral oils on the pungent, spice-accented nose. Juicy, deeply pitched red berry and bitter cherry flavors display a suave blend of density and vivacity and pick up spice and licorice qualities with air. Finishes with mounting tannins and impressive focus. I suspect that this wine will age slowly and gracefully."

I brought the Concha y Toro Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 for $21.99 each but found that the wine is good but it is about $8 more expensive than what it sells for @ the Costco. The Customer service was the most rude i have experienced when i called back on what the price match policy was. The rep told me this is America and I am free to take my business elsewhere....guess what they lost one customer for life

Always a favorite. Works well with many meals - from pasta to barbecued meats. But best of all, smooth and drinkable on its own when you just want a hearty glass of red.

Learn About Chile

(CHEE-lay) Long and thin, Chile has a lot of land north to south. The wine region here is a series of districts based near Santiago. The vineyards are protected by the Pacific on the west and the Andes mountains on the east. This could help explain why the climate changes more from east to west than north to south - also why the country has remained phylloxera free....

Learn About Cabernet Sauvignon

(cab-uhr-NAY sow-veeh-yawn) King of Red Many refer to Cabernet Sauvignon as the king of red grapes. Perhaps that title is due to its ability to grow worldwide in a number of climates, or to the fact that it produces wine with such character yet such diversity. Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
