Concha y Toro Casillero Del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
Cabernet Sauvignon
from Chile, South America
winemaker's notes:
This is an incredible value from Chile! One of the best Cabernets you'll ever enjoy for the price. Bright, dark red. Appealing ripe cherries, blackcurrant and dark plums with a touch of vanilla and toasty oak. Medium bodied with smooth and friendly tannins. Hints of plums and cherries and a generous touch of toasted American oak.
Enjoy with Red meat, lamb, pasta with red sauces, paella, rabbit and gruyère cheese.

Casillero Del Diablo is heavy on personality. You can taste the fine smoky, quality of the tannins, as well as the chocolate, coffee, spices, raspberries and blueberries. I have found this is the perfect after dinner wine and is best accompanied by a Lindt Truffle. The chocolate makes a perfect companion to the wine. I don't consider myself a wine snob, however, I do know the difference between swill (which includes most of the major "house" wine varietals from a certain western state) versus the good stuff.
A Customer - Toronto, Canada
This wine is definitely a gem for the price. Luscious berries with a hint of smoked aroma and a bouquet that reminds of a vidal icewine. Tannins are mild. Could use one more year in the cellar but superb to have now. There's a reason why this one is an award winner.
