The 2004 Concannon Merlot, Selected Vineyards, Central Coast is bright red/magenta in color. Dark cherry, cassis, and raspberry fruit flavors combine with spicy, smoky, toasty oak
on the nose and follow through on the palate. Dark chocolate integrates well with these
Merlot flavors, giving this wine good length and lively tannins on the finish.
Enjoy with beef pot roast, filet mignon, braised leg of lamb, prosciutto wrapped shrimp, or
other favorite red meat or veal dishes.
where to start... OK I cooked a steak. Had a sip of this while eating. I could taste the cherries and the raspberry the wine said it had. The only problem is, I had too go through so much acidity to get them followed by an aftertaste of Robatussin and Zinfindel. More importantly, my guest who I have known for more than 15 years, did not like it either and had similar commentary. It's not undrinkable, but I am not buying it again.
