Its big, and dark, with very deep plum flavors. Made entirely from Petite Sirah from two vineyards here, one very old, producing less than one ton per acre of extremely concentrated plum fruit; and a younger one that gives a little larger crop of ripe berry character with a little more spice. Tom lets the vineyard ripen to the point where its about ten percent raisins because he likes the jammy flavor which develops late in the season. It stays in a combination of French and American oak for nineteen months and then has a year in the bottle before release. Big Petite Sirah fans will love this one even more than the Vintage 1995 which scored 90 in the Wine Enthusiasts competition.
