Colvin Patina Syrah 2001

As the name implies, the winemaking philosophy of Colvin Vineyards focuses on the vineyard. We believe the vineyards hold the key not only to our present winemaking endeavors, but also to the future as we strive to enhance the quality of the wines we produce. We have therefore embarked on an ambitious and exciting planting program, in which we work closely with select wine growers who are as committed to their efforts as we are ours. In addition to reviving the Carmenere varietal-which we feel will be an important blending wine-we have directed these growers to plant select clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. We feel this clonal diversification will ultimately contribute to the depth and complexity of our wines in years to come. We are very pleased with the results we have seen thus far and believe the resulting wines will reflect our dedication not only in the winery but in the vineyard as well.
