The Malbec fruit for this wine was grown on our own River Oaks Vineyard estate in the southern end of Alexander Valley. Malbec is an unusual wine grape in that the berries are very large, and as delicious as table grapes. Almost purple-black in color, the fruit produces a very plush, big, silky wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon, from a premium vineyard in Alexander Valley, provides additional structure to the wine. The 1997 Winemaker's Reserve Malbec is full-bodied, with intense blueberry flavors. It has a lovely deep purple hue, with a rich, chocolate oak finish. Enjoy this wine now paired with red meat dishes, or cellar age for 7-10 years.
