    Winemaker Notes

Incredible pricing on this blend of old vine Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the Costa Brava at Celler Mas Gil. Made by winemaker extraordinaire Peter Sisseck of Pingus fame - don't miss out on this price.

"($100) Ruby-red. Powerfully scented nose features blueberry, cassis and cherry liqueur laced with espresso, licorice and smoked meat. Firm in structure but explosive in ripe dark fruit flavor, with complicating notes of bacon fat, black cardamom, iron and cigar box. Finishes with building richness and great length. This is another Peter Sisseck project."

    Clos d'Agon, Spain
Located on the hills overlooking the village of Calonge and only 3 kilometers away from the Mediterranean Sea, Clos d'Agon is fashioning the most intelligent and delicious wine to ever come out of the region. With Peter Sisseck of Pingus fame as consulting winemaker, the property has taken the wine world by surprise with a sophisticated, complex white wine made with Rhone varietals and a deeply concentrated, expressive red.

Spanish red wine is known for being bold, heady, rustic and age-worthy, Spain is truly a one-of-a-kind wine-producing nation. A great majority of the country is hot, arid and drought-ridden, and since irrigation has only been recently introduced and (controversially) accepted, viticulture has sustained—and flourished—only through a great understanding of Spain’s particular conditions. Large spacing between vines allows each enough resources to survive and as a result, the country has the most acreage under vine compared to any other country, but is usually third in production.

Of the Spanish red wines, the most planted and respected grape variety is Tempranillo, the star of Spain’s Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions. Priorat specializes in bold red blends, Jumilla has gained global recognition for its single varietal Monastrell and Utiel-Requena has garnered recent attention for its reds made of Bobal.
