Winemaker's Notes

Congratulations – you are, or are soon to be, the proud owner of a bottle of Clos Pegase Estate Bottled 2002 Mitsuko's Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc. Note the Screw Cap, or Stelvin to be more precise. This new closure is designed to retain all of the bright and fresh fruit tones that our Sauvignon Blanc offers. The absence of cork not only retains freshness, it is simple to open, and is a guarantee that the wine will never be negatively affected by cork taint. This is the wine for Summer, lazy days, and cellaring in the short term (if you can wait). This wine has a crisp, fruit driven style with gooseberry and tropical fruit tones. It receives extensive lees stirring to give fatness and richness to the palate. After fermentation and total aging of five months, bottling in March 2003 gives us this fruit driven, complex and balanced 2002 wine.

The Clos Pegase label features Pegasus, painted circa 1890 by the French artist Redon. This painting is winery owner Jan Shrem's favorite work of art from his extensive private collection.
