Winemaker's Notes:

The fruit for Clos du Bois Classic Sonoma County Merlot comes from vineyards in Sonoma County's Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. Extended maceration enhances color, flavor and mouthfeel, and aging for 18 months in 60-gallon oak barrels adds softness and a subtle vanillin component. Small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon add structure and complexity, which enlivens the subtle texture and plum-like fruitiness that is the hallmark of fine Merlot.

Merlot is food's best friend and a fantastic party choice. This wine pairs well with roasted leg of lamb or tomato-based pasta dishes.

About Clos du Bois Winery:

Nearly 30 years ago, Clos du Bois was founded on 520 acres in the Alexander Valley of Sonoma County. Today, Clos du Bois is America's best-selling Sonoma County wine and one of California's leading super-premium wineries, famous for elegant, rich and supple wines that offer complexity and aging potential. Estate vineyards now include more than 700 acres in the Alexander Valley, and Clos du Bois works with nearly 150 small growers in the Northern California wine country.

Since joining the team in 2003, winemaker Erik Olsen has carefully refocused the wine program and consistently earned top scores for the Clos du Bois portfolio of wines.
