Cashmere is one of the most precious gifts of nature. It evokes quality, luxuriousness, and something that is a labor of love to produce. Our Cashmere is a silky and wonderful blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Syrah. It is a very flavorful, smooth wine offering bright cherry, raspberry, chocolate and toast with hints of cracked black pepper and plum.
One of the most versatile reds we produce, try Cashmere as an accompaniment to grilled salmon, pork roast or duck.

Fred Cline founded Cline Cellars in 1982, in Oakley, California. In 1991, the winery facilities relocated to the Sonoma Valley on a 350 acre estate in the Carneros District. The Cline Brothers, Fred and Matt, are Zinfandel and Rhone varietal specialists. Their holdings include some of the oldest and rarest vines in California. They are best known for the one hundred year old plantings of Carignane, Mourvedre and Zinfandel grapes they farm in Oakley, California. The Mourvedre represent approximately 85% of the state's total supply of this fascinating and versatile varietal. This treasure is the inspiration for Cline Cellars many "Rhone style" bottlings. California has nearly 100 American Viticulture Areas (AVAs) and accounts for almost 90% of wine production in the United States. In our section of Other California, we include wines from smaller AVAs as well as wines from the California AVA. Here are a few smaller AVAs you may see on the label:
Livermore Valley AVA, located right outside of San Francisco and home to wineries such as Wente.
Lodi County AVA, an AVA further east of San Francisco and known for its excellent, old-vine Zinfandels.
San Francisco Bay AVA, a sprawling AVA that covers Contra Costa, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties, to name a few. Wine that holds only the California AVA is typically a wine that includes grapes from a number of different AVAs, which leads to the general labeling of the wine as California. This does not denote the quality of the wine, only the diversity of where the grapes originate.
About CaliforniaIt's not rare to see a wine's country of origin listed as "California." A country unto itself in the wine world, California makes enough varieties and styles to match many European wine countries. It produces a diverse range of wines that span the quality spectrum.
The most famous of the California wine regions is Napa Valley, and these wines are certainly outstanding – but it's not as broad and diverse as its larger neighbor, Sonoma County. Down south, Santa Barbara's Santa Maria Valley is well-known for its Rhône blends, as well as cool-climate varieties like Pinot and Chardonnay. The Central Coast, the largest California AVA, has many different microclimates that lead to a wide range of wines with many sub-AVAs.

Pleasantly earthy, fruity aromas without any harsh elements. Primarily red fruit flavors (bing cherry, thimbleberry, raspberry) with a distinct earthy component, again surprisingly pleasant given Mourvedre’s reputation for somewhat rough and rustic farmyard characteristics. Some black fruit components in the background behind the earthy character, but red fruits are dominant. Second night similar to the first, with a little more black fruit shows in the initial flavors than was the case for the first night. Red fruits again dominate after a little airing in the glass. Third night rather similar to the second, with black fruits beginning to challenge the red fruits in the flavors, and with tannins beginning to emerge a little more in the flavors and finish. After some airing in the glass, the red fruits again assert themselves in the flavors Medium/full bodied, smooth, with mild tannins. A wine that grows on you, and one of the few wines with a noticeable earthy component that I actually like. A versatile food wine. I've had other vintages of this wine and I've enjoyed this, but this particular vintage (2011) seemed off. It wasn't flawed but it seemed as if sugar had been added or something had been altered.
