Winemaker's Notes

The 2006 Ancient Vines Zinfandel shows wonderful dusty raspberry, blackberry, white pepper and spice, with coffee and chocolate characters. Ripe fruit and soft tannins make this a mouth-coating rich vintage. Aging in new and used wood has lent this wine a subtle vanilla quality that nicely complements the explosive fruit notes. Enjoy now or cellar for 5 to 7 years.

We loved this wine. It had a deep full-bodied taste and finish. Unfortunately it was sold out when we went back for more. We just bought the 2007 for $12 (same price), but haven't tried it yet. Similar wines are the Klinker Brink and Rombauer Zinfandels.

Good color. Fine bouquet of blackberry and pepper. The chocolate character seems to make this wine melt in your mouth.
