Winemaker's Notes

Keeping with the tradition from Bordeaux's right bank, this wine is primarily Merlot. The left bank of Bordeaux is primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and typically the wines are as well. With an intense purple color, this wine exhibits aromas of ripe berries, mocha and vanilla. The palate displays berry fruit with a touch of herbal flavors. It's rich yet very approachable at a young age with moderate tannins. A delicious entry level Bordeaux that is sure to peak your interest to try more. Blend: 90% Merlot, 10% Malbec.

Rating:
(9/29/2010)
This is one of the higher rated wines from a Jan 11 2008 WSJ review, but it was listed at 10.99 instead of the 24.99 current price here. This is a good wine but needs a more appropriate price.

Learn About Chateau du Grand Pierre

Château du Grand Pierre is run by two young, dynamic brothers - Olivier and Emmanuel Chety and it's belonged to the Chety family for 15 years. Both of these young men gained extensive winemaking experience in different regions of France and in Australia before returning to their family wine estate and investing that knowledge in their own terroir. They also benefit from the enormous wealth of knowledge passed down through this family of viticulturists who have been making wine in the Bordeaux region since 1803.
