This 35 acre estate was purchased by Bruno Paillard in 1995. In this part of Provence, the vineyards are not planted in flat valleys but on hillsides about 750 to 1,000 feet above sea level and are only 30 miles from the Mediterranean Sea. The soil in this region has large deposits of chalk and clay rendering it perfect for the Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre vines that have been planted at Chateau des Sarrins. All the wines are fermented in stainless steel tanks in a temperature controlled storage room and reds are aged in French oak barrels. The wines of Chateau des Sarrins taste both old and new. They possess the rustic character of the region and vines, while benefitting from modern winemaking and viticultural practices. These wines are the essence of Provence.
