Esclans is the second label in the d'Eslcans flight and it leads into partial oak vinification giving it hints of the complexity and structure for which Chateau d'Esclans high end cuvees are known.
"Very suave, elegant and expressive, with a spicy aroma and intense dry cherry and plum flavors that are modulated by buttercream notes. The rich finish features candied ginger and glazed apricot. Drink now through 2013. 3,000 cases made."
"Grenache and rolle partially fermented in demi-muids Pale, bright pink. Dusty, floral-accented red fruits and tangerine on the nose, with notes of sage and anise adding complexity. Fat but dry, with incisive flavors of bitter cherry and orange pith spreading out on the back half. Rich but by no means exotic, finishing with good thrust and a lingering floral quality. Strikes a nice balance between the nerviness of the Whispering Angel and the baroque character of the Clans and Garrus. This should work well with a variety of strongly seasoned foods."
