Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Our goal with the Ethos Cabernet is to showcase the power and richness of Washington fruit combined with an Old World elegance. The 2006 Ethos Cabernet offers dark fruit aromas with flavors of boysenberry and mocha on a decadent rich palate and an elegant finish. Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah were added to the blend to provide more depth and heighten the amazing Cabernet fruit.

Critical Acclaim

"The saturated purple-colored 2006 Ethos Cabernet Sauvignon also contains small quantities of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Syrah. Sourced from the Canoe Ridge Estate, Cold Creek Vineyard, and Wahluke Slope, it was aged for 22 months in French and American oak. Attractive aromas of cedar, spice box, boysenberry, plum, and mocha are followed by a complex Cabernet with a velvety texture, rich fruit, plenty of spice notes, and enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years. This lengthy effort will deliver prime drinking from 2013 to 2026. "
92 Points

"Firm, with a definite minty edge to the berry and spice flavors, finishing with a mild grip of tannins. "
