Winemaker Notes

The Columbia Valley Chardonnay is a pleasurable, food-friendly Chardonnay. This is a fresh, soft style of Chardonnay with bright apple and sweet citrus fruit character with subtle spice and oak nuances blend Chardonnay grapes from vineyards throughout Washington's Columbia Valley to make this a complex, interesting wine. The sur lie aging gives it an appealing softness.

On the lighter side, with lemon curd and spice flavors on a sleek frame, picking up fresh green fig notes as the finish lingers. Drink now through 2018.

Simple and sweet, this steal of a chardonnay rallies with firm, focused pear flavors, crisp and fresh. Chill it for aperitifs.

If I turned to the dictionary and looked up "cocktail chardonnay," the 2014 Chateau Ste Michelle would show up on the page. This is exactly the wine I would serve at a large casual gathering or a backyard grill with family, friends and neighbors. Medium straw color, a combine hit of sweet fruit and rich oak in the nose, very likable, especially to New World wine drinkers; medium bodied, firm and easy on the palate; shows a slight impression of sugar, but could still be measured in the dry camp; oak and fruit in the flavors; medium finish demonstrative in the aftertaste. (Tasted: March 31, 2016, San Francisco, CA)
