Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
This is an outstanding representation of St. Jean's Reserve Chardonnay. The wine invites with aromas of warm lemon cream pie, toasted hazelnuts and bright notes of tropical fruit like pineapple and mango. The palate is complex with layers of flavors including orange blossom, lemon zest, browned butter and baking spice. The well structured wine is balanced with a rich texture and
expressive acidity. The lively finish lingers with a classic lemon oil flavor.
Blend: 100% Chardonnay
"Chateau St. Jean's 2010 Chardonnay Reserve is another winner. A rich, deep wine, the Reserve has tons of depth and structure. Here, too, aromas and flavors are quite reticent, but the wine also appears to have plenty of potential. Nectarines, yellow stone fruits, mint and a hint of French oak frame the textured, inviting finish."
