Alcohol By Volume Guide
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.
Enticing aromas of lemongrass, green tea and sweet smoky notes begin the nose on this well-structured Fumé Blanc. Vibrant acidity and bright fruit flavors of kiwi fruit and melon linger on the palate and lead to a fresh finish with hints of spice.
"Their flagship offering is more muted aromatically, but there is a lot going on in this wine, especially on the palate. It is more promising in the mouth than in its shy aromatics, but those will emerge if my instincts are correct. Fresh, lively, fig, melon, flint, and a hint of freshly mowed grass, medium-bodied flavors, zesty acidity, no evidence of wood, and a long finish suggest it can be drunk over the next several years.
The Wine Advocate
"A smoky, toasty, cedary presence dominates this wine, but the spice details, ripe peach and nectarine flavors, and refreshing finish balance the strong, campfire presence-as does the wine's focus and persistence. Drink now through 2014. "
"Light straw hue. Classic scents of hay, wet grass and lemon scents. Creamy texture on entry with a satisfying blend of minerality, lime zest and light oak flavors. Light, tart orange peel and lemon pie notes in the medium close."
